NC State University Redesign

The new NC State Web site was redesigned in March 2012, kicking off the University’s 125th Anniversary. For several years now, NC State’s home page – http://www.ncsu.edu — has been subject to an ongoing iterative redesign. Over the last year, that evolution quickened, encompassing overhauls of several major landing pages and the main page.

On the homepage itself, these shifts expressed a content strategy geared to capture the character and brand of NC State with distinctive feature stories that support the university’s strategic priorities: enrollment, student success, research and alumni engagement. Our goal was to harness the talent of graphic artists, designers, developers, videographers and communicators across campus to reinforce a single, strategic message on the main page.

With several landing pages, including those for parents and families, future students, and potential donors, We have improved site structure and created user-centric navigation, making external audiences – particularly prospective students – a priority as these users typically have the hardest time finding the content and information they need. We have compelling, useful content the focus of these pages and built tools to help users navigate quickly and easily.
